Will "Personal Mobility" take off now that Segway is getting major competition?

Car makers are jumping into the personal mobility space, with Toyota launching Winglet and the Daimler unit, Smart, rolling out an electric scooter in Europe. Like Segway, Winglet makes use of inverted two-wheel control technology, enabling riders to move forward, backward and turn simply by shifting body weight. A smaller size that is lightweight and foldable, is meant to enable it to be taken on cars, buses, or trains, providing seamless mobility. Toyota envisions that Winglet will usher in a whole new style of personal mobility: Ride it from your house to the station. Carry it on the train or bus for your commute to school or work. Get off the train and ride it to the office or school door. Take it with you on business trips or when travelling for pleasure. What do you think?
