More online sites helping people make connections offline
A slew of websites are endeavoring to bring people together offline to facilitate new connections in ways that could never have happened before. These include sites for taxi-sharing, meeting likeminded others on airplanes, group buying, and even sharing hotel rooms in order to make new friends share expenses. Next up is EatWith, an on-trend website that takes a page from the Airbnb and Couch Surfing models to pair home chefs with hungry travelers in a dozen cities worldwide. EatWith offers a platform for chefs to offer meals in their homes in exchange for a "donation" from the diners. The result is a terrific way to meet locals where they live and have a home cooked meal too. Can you think of other creative ways in which the Internet can bring people together in the real world?
