Augmented reality food and beverage labels are gaining traction

Washington's Snoqualmie Brewery recently created a dynamic, interactive label for its 'Sno Falls' American Pale Ale.
When the bottle is viewed with the naked eye, it shows a serene waterfall scene. When this same image is viewed through the screen of a mobile device and the free Layar app, it comes to life, showing viewers a range of fun scenes. Some of the animations that come to life include fish swimming upstream, birds flying by, as well as the brewmaster going over the falls in a barrel.
Although there are a number of brands within the alcohol sector that are now integrating interactive features into their packaging, augmented reality technology is also being used to engage consumers on everything from candy wrappers and promotional fast food fry boxes to egg cartons.
