Library joins the online conversation with selfie photo machine
People are already talking about the activities they do and the businesses they like online, so it makes sense that places and brands are inserting themselves into those conversations by making it even easier for people to share. While we have seen lots of companies offer websites and contests that encourage customers to talk about them, the New York Public Library (NYPL) is one of the first public institutions to combine the social media trend with the selfie fad to offer visitors an easy way of sharing their experience in the library. The NYPL has installed two selfie booths in their main library at Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street. Visitors are encouraged to write a thought bubble about their library experience, snap a photo and post it to their social media accounts. Photos are also archived on the library's own site.
