Are shelved gardens the next trend in green design?

Like vertical gardens, shelved gardens fill vertical spaces with plants. Of course, the idea of putting plants on shelves is not new, but doing it outside of the retail environment of the "green industry" or for any other reason than purely for the sake of necessity is a relatively original twist that looks to be one of the next big trends in gardening.
