Is sea water the next trend in bottled water?

Despite the fact that it is one of the most common elements on earth, many people swear by bottled water, even if their municipal taps are fresh and clean. No matter that most bottled waters sit in plastic bottles for who-knows-how-long soaking up the plastic's chemical who-knows-what. What can we say, bottled water is a trend. Businesses like it because it is profitable. We recently covered the water sommelier trend that started in California. Normally, water marketing tends towards the purest sources, or the best mix of minerals, or both. Now a new brand, MaHaLo Hawaii Deep Sea Water, claims that it has created a new technology to filter out the excess salt from sea water to create a new kind of mineral water. Harvested off the coast of Kona, Hawaii, this water is drawn from deep below the surface of the Pacific Ocean, sufficient they say to make it safe from surface pollutants caused by industry, farming, chemicals or human waste. We expect to see this on Los Angeles water menus soon.
