New iPhone points to a future of mobile personal activity trackers
Apple is setting itself up for its next revolution in personal health. In its recent launch, Apple made big deal of its new powerful chip and motion coprocessor that the company said would run sensors, a gyroscope, accelerometer, compass and GPS. The result is that this coprocessor will track your every move. Based on new hires by Apple it seems that the company's interest in activity tracking is strong. An additional benefit of biometric tracking will be new kinds of security that are not based on passwords. Fingerprinting has already been announced, but in the future even that will be superseded by individual biometrics like heart rate frequency and vocal scans. Is health and wellness the next frontier for the mobile industry in general and Apple in particular? It sure looks like it.
