Customized meal delivery subscriptions for dogs is trending
Meal kit services for humans are becoming more prevalent as retailers partner with culinary brands to provide consumers more options and specialized services, such as meal kits for kid’s food. Now, new services are aimed at young dog owners, who are known to pamper their pets. One example is The Farmer’s Dog, a subscription-based startup that recently closed $8.1 million in Series A funding led by Shasta Ventures, which has also backed success stories like Warby Parker and Dollar Shave Club. With plans starting at $11 per week, the company uses USDA- and FDA-approved human-grade ingredients to create personalized meal plans for dogs based on age, breed, size, activity level, and health needs. Delivered every few weeks to save on costs, the meals come in individual-sized portions. Pet owners can also offer their furry friends new animal-friendly “alcohol” to wind down after dinner, now available from multiple brands.
