Smoke returns to American bars, this time mixed in cocktails
A few months ago on WkiTrend we wrote about smoked water, one of the newest ingredients in the bartenders arsenal. Now the smoky cocktail trend has gone even further with drinks that are mixed with tobacco-infused sugar syrup. Adding an unusual flavor profile that goes well with darker alcohols, tobacco is showing up in high-end drinks across the United States and Europe. The syrup is created with loose tobacco that is infused in sugar water overnight. It's made with pipe tobacco, which has fewer chemicals and additives than most cigarette tobacco. Other bars, like Bar Charley in Washington, D.C. are creating cocktails with cedar smoke or homemade tobacco bitters. In newly-liberated states like Colorado and Washington, can smoked ganga cocktails be far behind?
