Uber-trendy cocktail bars are the latest on-board amenities

Celebrity Cruises is jumping on the creative cocktail trend by hiring bona fide mixologists to staff many of their onboard bars. Most bars on cruise ships are pretty decent – you usually have your champagne bar, your martini bar, a big lounge with live performers, and a nightclub offing dance music of one kind or another. But Celebrity Cruises has upped the trend factor with some cool bars that raise the bar on the drinkeries that are usually found on ships. On the Celebrity Reflection, for example, there is large circular bar made of ice with an extensive martini menu that goes far beyond gin and vermouth. And at another watering hole called the Molecular Bar, nerdy drink chefs are creating cocktails made with fancy foams and even liquid nitrogen. Cruise ships are usually not the first to jump on trends, but they continue to be a good place to experience trends once they have proved themselves on land.
