Workations are among the fastest-growing segments of travel
A recent survey by the upscale hotel brand Pullman Hotels notes a growing trend in which travelers are blurring the lines between business and leisure travel. Interestingly, the reason for this may be the growth of mobile technology. Now it's easier than ever for both types of travelers to extend their stays, enjoy themselves while simultaneously being connected with the office and getting work done on the beach. In short, workations increase both freedom and efficiency. Conversely, this trend can also be seen in the office, where 73-percent of respondents admitted to conducting non-work by mobile phone and associated apps. If such blurring represents a new kind of work ethic, we can be sure that it will get more so, and that companies and brands will be responding to this lifestyle change in creative new ways.
