World's first asteroid mining ship is ready to launch
Astroforge is looking to mine asteroids to extract valuable minerals in space at a lower cost and smaller carbon footprint than the current terrestrial mining methods. Specifically, they are looking for asteroids containing platinum group metals integral to a variety of technologies, including catalytic converters, clean energy solutions, and medical instruments. Their second mission, Odin, is set to launch this year aboard Intuitive Machines' IM-2 lunar mission. Odin’s role is to gather critical imagery of the target asteroid, preparing the way for their next mission, Vestri, which will aim to land on the asteroid and begin extraction.
