Will "watchies" be the new selfies?
The jury has not yet spoken as to whether the smart watches will be a trend or a fad, but the makers of these devices know at least one new way in which almost every wearer will want to use the camera on their wrists: to take selfies. The selfie has been around almost as long as there have been cameras, but the phenomenon has taken on a new significance with the proliferation of camera-enabled smartphones. New smart watches like the Kenneth Cole Connect are looking to take selfies in another direction altogether by allowing you to position your smartphone and then take a picture remotely using a button on the watch as the shutter release. So while selfies will remain with us long into our future, they may just start to look a lot less like selfies. Call them "watchies."
