Will ultra-lightweight skateboards make the sport better, faster, stronger?

Hydroflex Technology, a high-end surfboard manufacturer from Southern California. is developing a lightweight skateboard line launching on Kickstarter.com this Thursday. The boards are informed by surfing technology, built from foam, fiberglass and resin. A honeycomb structure allows the resin to distribute throughout the whole deck, making it strong and giving it a cool, colorful look. Skateboarding technology is in need of an upgrade. Will this help make the sport Olympic grade?
